An intranet solution for a manufacturer of textile accessories Providing a Web based interface to access company sales information across the Company.
Situation A leading textile accessories manufacturing company has numerous branches, factories scattered across the country. With its head office located in Bangalore, the company has to provide access to information from its centralised MS SQL server to its branches and factories. The people in the company experienced that the task of teleneting through VSAT and accessing the data through database commands is time consuming, tedious and requires sufficient knowledge of the database commands. Objective The Company required a user-friendly interface to access the required information from the server. And it should have the capability of accessing from different locations with less effort. Solution MeCOM delivered a solution that connects all the people in the company to the database in a user friendly environment using state-of-the-art Web technology. The solution is to provide a Web interface that communicates with the backend system of Company and avail browsing of information with the options to place queries with the database on the Net. The user can make use of any web browser at the front-end and log in to the web server. The response is picked up from the database to present to the user as a web page. The complete solution is integrated with the home page of the Company India. Results The solution offers huge benefits to the Company in terms of accessibility, convenience and choice.
